Body art- tattoos and piercings
NEW TRENDS Beautifying oneself is not easy or devoid of pain. But make sure it’s surgically safe.
A cheap tattoo is not good, and a good tattoo is not cheap. The earliest form of artistic expression body art has been used to indicate and express personal expressions. Body Art explores the ways, both temporary and permanent, in which people modify, change, decorate and adorn their bodies. Several body art places have mushroomed in the city and a chat with them has provided insights into what’s right and what’s wrong, what these places specialise in, their procedure and their charges.
Procedure
For every Tattoo the designed is imprinted on a stencil, Vaseline is rubbed on to the skin where the tattoo needs to etched. Imported machines and surgical needles are used. Both colour and plain tattoos can be done on any part of the body. Only vegetable ink should used and fabric ink should be completely avoided. Some stores also import skin friendly dyes along with their machines and needles. The call of the day is to go all organic and stores also indulge in skin protective creams. Tattoos usually take a few hours before they are completed and sometimes may even go on to several sessions before it’s completed. They take a week to ten days to heal. A few of the stores also have equipments for cover up tattoos or replacing existing tattoos. One must stay away from swimming because of its high chlorine content and also from direct sunlight. One can apply silverex or coconut oil or vitamin E oil should be used to aid the healing procedure. One also needs to take care that the scab should fall out on it’s own and one should avoid scratching or peeling during the healing.
For body piercing one needs to select the ring, and the position and either a manual or a gun shot method is opted after applying local anaesthesia.

Side affects
When tattoos are not done from right places or proper safety and precautions are not met with, various side affects can take place. Bulges may appear due to deeper incisions, re-used needles can even prove fatal resulting in AIDS. Tearing of skin and various allergies are among the recurring side affects. Placing of needles and knowing which needle to use for which tattoo is also an area of concern. Use of fabric paints can also result in colours fading away faster and they are also toxic. Make sure needles are sterilised and opened in from of you.

Using a rich, exotic moisturising lotion after the scrub is to soften condition and smooth even the driest skin. The ‘Coconut sugar scrub’ will buff your skin to perfection with raw sugar cane granules infused with virgin coconut oil. This will give deep hydration and nutrition to the skin. Known for its ancient healing properties, coconut contains high levels of antioxidants and hydrators to restore your skin, leaving it soft and supple. The ‘Papaya enzyme body envelopment’ acts as an anti-oxidant that detoxifies and the anti-ageing body wrap repairs your skin leaving you radiant and relaxed. It also tones and tightens the skin. Your body will be wrapped in a fragrant papaya masque to infuse it with vitamins which in turn will hydrate the body. The fruit acids from the pineapple will help lighten skin pigmentation and will act as an effective exfoliation. While your body will be enveloped in the organic papaya, you will also receive a face, scalp and neck massage. This treatment concludes with an application of their signature moisturising aromatic blend.
Hairstyles
Each time we talk about hair we must not forget that the heat also beat them down. Oily hair falls flat and dry hair gets frizzy. Hair needs a lot of looking after because that’s what one can see right away. Sweating and secretion of oils in the scalp only worsens it. This summer keep it short and bring back the sheen.
Naturals say keep your hair short to medium length with two or three wearing options, if you sport long hair tie it in a neat and high ponytail or learn to tie it up in vertical buns like a French roll etc. From their essential looks collection they recommend the Rounded form and 80’s dance which is best suited for summer.
La Change advocates angled bob hairstyles, Short hairstyles, and hairstyles with Bangs, Jessica Alba hairstyles and Pixie Haircuts. The best thing about angled bob hair is that it can look amazing on anyone with any face shape. Bob hairstyles are sexy and typically end around the shoulders and sometimes can get very long. Angled bob hairstyles are fuller and many celebrities are already wearing this new hair trend.
Studio profile says keep it easy-breezy this summer with some highlights. Asyemmetric-geometric styles are in this season. For highlights let the colours be cool and bright.
Style Mantra vouches for the ‘Brazen Bob’ look. It’s a two tone colour and haircut where the classic bob is given a slightly angled look to emphasise the features. Copper tones are included to enhance shine. The ‘Pixie Shag’ is wispier on the front and back and more feathered to add to the pixie-ness. The ‘Crown layering’ is to increase the volume of hair as hair flattens during the summer months.
Anoushka says keep it small and simple. Play with bold colours this season and subtle highlights. Let there be milder tones being used on hair.
